PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2004 - present

Freelance journalist and editor

I love writing about cities, transportation, urbanism, technology and business. But I'm also a jack of all trades — a polymath, if you will — and love wrapping my mind around new and interesting ideas. Bylines include CityLab, The Atlantic, The Globe and Mail, Associated Press, Vice, Motherboard, Nieman Lab, Mercedes Benz Magazine, Maclean's, Financial Post, Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen and others.

2015 - present

Freelance copywriter and content producer

I write and edit web copy, ebooks, white papers, brochures, B2B blog articles, infographics and more for a select clientele composed of well-known companies. Please note: Most of this work is not bylined. Contact me privately for work samples.

2018 - present

Stringer and fill-in Canada bureau chief

The Associated Press

I replace AP's actual Canada bureau chief when he goes on vacation. Work is primarily centered on covering breaking and developing news. I also work as a freelance AP stringer in Ottawa and Montreal.

March 2015–present

Managing editor

Contently

I write, edit and produce B2B and B2C content for a handful of companies. Responsibilities include copy editing, major content editing/rewriting, fact-checking, image sourcing, client relations and content strategy. Topics include customer service, artificial intelligence, personalization, personal finance, graphic design, etc.

Nov. 2017 - Oct. 2018

Future of transportation correspondent

MOTHERBOARD

I covered the future of transportation and its impact on people and cities. Click here for more of my Motherboard work

Feb. 2013–Nov. 2015

Online reporter-editor

CBC News

I wrote, edited and published more than 1,000 news stories for CBC in Montreal. Coverage included Lac-Mégantic train disaster, elections (municipal, provincial, federal), Quebec far-right and identity politics, cannabis legalization, gun registry, domestic terrorism, fentanyl and more. I translated dozens of French Radio-Canada stories, including complicated legal ones, for the CBC English site.
